The women of the Asociación Tabadol created a play called “The Names of Fear,” which emerged as a result of the power outage that has affected Cañada Real since 2020. It was agreed to perform one of the fragments of this play and transform it into an audiovisual piece for the museum. After a selection process, the fragment “With Fear in the Body” was chosen.
Everything described in the play reflects real situations and experiences of these women. Those who volunteered to dramatize the reading and participate in the play shared their own stories as well as those of their companions, turning the performance into a collective testimony.
The play "With Fear in the Body" is a theatrical piece that was developed collaboratively in workshop sessions with the women of Tabadol. Over time, the testimonies of the residents regarding the power supply cut in Cañada were collected. With this material, a script was generated that forms the body of this piece. The women of Tabadol have performed this piece at different meetings and presentations as a mechanism to narrate this situation.
In our case, we decided to follow the creative process that Tabadol has been carrying out and chose to work with them to translate a fragment of this text into an audiovisual format. To do this, we jointly selected this fragment, which representatively captures the issues raised in the play.
In a subsequent session, we conducted a filming session where each reading was individually recorded.
The production took place in Espacio de Todo, where a space was transformed to be as dark as possible so we could control the light, as the goal was to achieve an intimate result that evoked the darkness in which Cañada is immersed.
